Overview

When you’re not feeling well, the last thing you want to do is wait for an appointment or drive to an urgent care clinic. With virtual medicine, you can stay in the comfort of your home and seek medical advice any time of day or night. Virtual medicine is also a great option when you’re traveling and not able to see your regular doctor. The provider of your virtual medicine services depends on the medical plan you choose.

Teladoc

If you’re enrolled in a BCBS medical plan, telehealth consultation services are available through Teladoc. Teladoc gives you 24/7/365 access to board-certified physicians over the phone or through live video right from your mobile device or computer. Teladoc physicians can provide fast, convenient diagnosis and treatment for many common conditions. They can even write you a prescription, according to the regulatory guidelines of your state.

Turn to Teladoc for non-emergency medical problems like cold and flu symptoms, bronchitis, allergies, sinus problems, ear infections, and more. Get started by visiting the BCBS website and clicking on the Teladoc link to complete your online profile. Then, you’ll be ready to get the care you need quickly when you’re sick.

After you’ve set up your profile, just make an appointment online anytime through the Teladoc website. Your cost for a Teladoc visit depends on your medical plan, and will range from $10 to $55.

Kaiser telehealth

If you’re enrolled in the Kaiser HMO, you have 24/7 access to a number of virtual medicine options.

  • Video visits allow you to connect with a doctor face-to-face without coming into a Kaiser office. Schedule your visit online through the Kaiser website or call 866.454.8855. You can also request an on-demand visit with an on-call physician.
  • Phone appointments give you the flexibility to talk with your doctor from anywhere. Schedule online through the Kaiser website or call 866.454.8855.
  • E-visits give you the opportunity to ask a question online through the Kaiser website and get medical advice and treatment guidance from a Kaiser clinician within two hours, daily between 7 am and 7 pm.
  • Email consultations allow another option for non-urgent questions. Email your doctor’s office any time of day and get a response within 48 hours (many replies are made within 24 hours). You can even attach a photo for your caregiver to review. Sign in to the Kaiser website or use the mobile app to submit your email.
